Raquel is a pastry chef and owner of GinQuelRus pastries. A 100
percent Filipina, she married Chef Jon who is of pure Chinese descent, and they are proud
parents to their adorable baby boy Saffron Matthew or Sam for short. (Their
baby's name was taken from one of the most expensive spices in the world -
saffron. That's how they see their bundle of joy, too: precious.)
Getting pregnant and then delivering her child to full term
posed as big challenges to Raquel. She suffered from hypothyroidism, asthma,
and while pregnant with Sam, gestational diabetes. But her string of health
issues only made her more determined to provide what's best for her baby, from
investing in a cord blood bank to breastfeeding her child.
Breastfeeding has now become her advocacy.
Raquel is also a convert of red/brown rice for two years now
and finds making a weekly planned menu very useful.
She refuses to hire a professional yaya, but still gets the
needed support from her trained house help. Raquel is starting to get used to
her life as a work-from-home mom and will delightfully share her experiences
with you.

Smiley gave up her journalism job in Hong Kong for love, and
has continued to put her career on hold to raise her baby girl Caitlin Audrey.
Inspired by Caitlin, she taught herself how to cook, bake,
and even sew baby clothes with big help from the internet. She finds them, as
well as running, therapeutic.
She also prefers making small crafts and decors over buying
them over the counter.
Smiley feels complete when she breastfeeds her child and
encourages every mom to experience it in spite of the initial pain and
discomfort that it may bring.
She's also a big fan of her husband Jay's cooking.
Blogging lets her enjoy her passion in writing and everything
Caitlin.
